One of the longest established art and craft cooperatives in Australia, Stonehouse Gallery in Warrandyte was founded in 1972 by eight like-minded potters wanting to promote ceramics.
Today, it continues to thrive with 18 diverse makers and invited artists showcasing and selling beautiful handmade ceramics, textiles, woodwork, glass, jewellery and furniture in the Warrandyte gallery and shop.
The bright and airy Stonehouse Gallery is situated in the stunning historic Gospel Chapel nestled next to the Yarra River in Warrandyte. This historic area of Warrandyte is the first place where gold was discovered in Victoria and offers beautiful walks along the Yarra river, historical art trail, beautiful picnic spots and in summer many people will be found swimming and fishing along the river banks. Visitors to the Stonehouse gallery are able to speak to its artists every day and there are often opportunities to watch master craftspeople at work.
Warrandyte has many fabulous restaurants, including the historic Warrandyte Hotel with wineries nearby. It is a village that is full of unique shops and beautiful landscapes.
With ample parking and full wheelchair access it is easy to visit Stonehouse Gallery for a unique experience to remember and maybe a treasure found.
